When The Premiere Came To Town

By 16th February 2015
The stars came out in force for the much anticipated Gala Premiere of Time Teens:The Beginning, the independent Scottish film from Baudelaire Productions and Dreamcastle Films filmed entirely in Perthshire and Angus.

The 250 strong audience, made up of Time Teens cast, technicians, sponsors, business supporters, members of Creative Scotland and representative's of both the Scottish and Westminster governments, enjoyed a full IMAX experience at Perth Playhouse and a pre-screening intro from Ian Grieve, Time Teens creator and Ryan Alexander Dewar, the film director.

The film introduces the Time Teens eight part TV series, and tells the story of William, a pilgrim time traveller policing time crime under the Council of Nine in Perth, Scotland. When William is sent a letter from the future, he is shown what might happen if he continues on his current path. What would happen if he changed it?

Bringing together a stunning Scottish cast that included Grieve, Amanda Beveridge, Andy Gray, Tom McGovern and many more the film had the audience gripped from the off. From young teenagers to experienced stalwarts of Scottish screen and stage, the complex roles came to life in an intricate tale of time travel set over numerous periods. And just as you think you've lost your way entirely, the pieces begin to fall into place, characters show their hand and relationships become clearer.

With cleverly composed writing, blatant ambition and dazzling cinematography, Time Teens is a movie not to be missed. Locals will enjoy seeing Perth depicted in both modern and Victorian times; with a birdseye view of the roof tops and skyline, car rides through the streets and a gun fight on the council roof you'll start looking at our city in a whole new light!

The film showcased a wealth of Scottish talent both onscreen and off and this was reiterated several times by Ian and Ryan during their talk.  The ambitious project was taken from fruition to completion with only £5000 in the budget, a task made possible thanks to all members of the cast and crew waiving their fee and local businesses supporting the pair with gifts of equipment, props, venues and sponsorship monies.

It was an emotional and relieved duo who took to the stage during a standing ovation, with Dewar admitting that things had gotten pretty tight on a couple of technical hitches!

Fuelled by the triumphant response from the audience, they announced bold plans for a Perthshire and Angus film industry before thanking everyone involved and heading over to Harry's Perth for the aftershow party!

Ian reiterated their plans in his statement of thanks:

"We want to thank all the good people and businesses who helped us get to this momentous stage on the Time Teens path. With particular gratitude to everyone at Harry's Perth for a wonderful night and to the architects of the newborn Perthshire and Angus Film Industry. May it have a healthy, youthful growth spurt and an ever blossoming future."
