By Jo Gostling
The Perth Branch of Cats Protection was established way back in May 2000 and since then have expanded and now have 17 different pens in 13 different locations and rehome over 300 cats a year. As a result of this set-up, people looking for cats are not able to visit all of their cats at once, so they operate a bit like a dating agency and try to match up prospective owners with suitable cats.
Now, we've been showing a lot of love for dogs recently at Small City (check out our dog-friendly gallery and our review of Puppies and Prosseco), but we've still got plenty left for cats! Our gallery photographer Jo Gostling has two meownificent felines, Nutmeg and Eddie, that she adopted from Cats Protection and so we thought she was the purrfect purrson to take some snaps of the gorgeous cats currently available for adoption.
If you are looking to give a cat a home, be aware that not all the cats are young, pretty, cute or friendly but they have a lot to offer and deserve a loving home. Also, older cats are much quieter, relaxing companions and usually far more grateful and loving than the youngsters! Before going to a new home every Cat Protection cat is: Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, health-checked and insured. There is a £60 adoption fee per cat and they may carry out a home visit to ensure you are matched with the perfect cat. Anyway, enough procatstination! Let's meet the cats!

Gracie
Friendly Gracie is a mature, loving cat looking for a home. Because she is an elderly lady, Cats Protection will meet the cost of any future vets bills.
Abbie
Pretty Abbie would ideally like to find a new home with her brother Banjo. Ideally, she is seeking an experienced and patient owner who can offer her the time and space she needs to help her confirm that actually, humans aren't too bad after all!
Banjo
Handsome Banjo would ideally would like to find a home with his sister Abbie. They are seeking a loving and patient home - Banjo is more outgoing than his sister but can still be a little timid until he gets to know you - then he is very friendly and absolutely loves cuddles and being stroked!
Charles
Charles (or Charlie) is a 12-year-old boy who needs a new home with outdoor access away from roads after his owner passed away. He's gentle and friendly, with a love of lying on beds, and would probably prefer a home without small children, dogs or other cats.
Rag
As he is the least timid of 3, he would rather go with 1 of his more timid brothers, for moral support, of course. He is neutered, microchipped and ready to join a very patient and fairly quiet family who will be rewarded greatly with lots of playtime.
Tag
He is a stunning black/white Tuxedo boy but due to being a little shy would rather be re-homed with 1 of his brothers (Rag). He is already showing signs of having a very sweet nature which will shine through given a little time to settle with the right family.
Bobtail
Bobtail is a gorgeous tabby boy with a very calm but shy nature, so would rather be re-homed with his big brave brother Rag. He is fairly inquisitive and likes to watch what is going on around him but from a distance. Given time and lots of patience he will be a very loving devoted boy for the right family.
Pumpkin and Treacle
Pumpkin and Treacle are a closely bonded brother-and-sister pair. They're nine months old, get on very well with small children, and love petting, laps and family life. They're not fussy eaters, good at using their litter trays and up-to-date with vaccinations and anti-pest treatments. Although they currently prefer to spend most of the day inside, they also enjoy having access to the outdoors. Their owner would love to be able to keep them but is unable to do so because of poor health, so is very regretfully seeking to re-home them, together, with people who can spare plenty of cuddle-time.
Banjo
Banjo is more outgoing than his sister Abbie but can still be a little timid until he gets to know you - then he is very friendly and absolutely loves cuddles and being stroked!
Nutmeg & Eddie
Definitely not for adoption! We've included Meg and Ed as a success story, as they were adopted by Jo from Cats Protection Perth nearly 10 years ago and live happily and healthily with her to this day!!!
