Local lass Sophie McEwan is the Director of Perth’s Heatworks Stove and Cooker Centre in Perth.

Before Heatworks, Sophie worked with her Mother-in-Law as an assistant in her wholesale business where she would process the customer orders, order stock and look after her sales area in the Highlands.

On her days off - as rare as they may be - Sophie loves grabbing a bite to eat in Hinterland and shopping in BooVake (we don’t blame her!) however, if it’s a bit of peace and relaxation she’s after, there’s only one place you’ll find Sophie…. Blend Coffee Lounge with a large coffee.

Brought up in Scone, it’s no wonder that Sophie is a fan of all the wonderful nature walks Perth has to offer however, her favourite are the Kinnoull Woods and you’ll often find her there with her two beautiful Whippets.

As well as being Director of a Perth Indie, Sophie has a full family life too and we are amazed at how she does it all however, we weren’t at all surprised when she told us that nothing happens before a cup of tea (we all need our fuel, right?). We love that Sophie’s favourite part of her day at work is when she gets to go into the Warehouse for some wrapping and packing and were excited to learn more about this wonder-woman!

One day I’d love to explore the Italian lakes (and restaurants!) in a vintage Alfa Romeo Spider!

Tell us the weirdest / funniest thing that has ever happened to you at work?

One of the funniest days at work for me (but not for my colleague) was when I had to ask for some help lifting a stove into a clients van. When my colleague bent over to begin their lift, their trousers split right up the backside! Luckily we had a sewing kit in the office and we gave them a quick fix to avoid any further embarrassment!

What signals the start of your days off?

Much the same as work days, a 5 year old and 2 year old thundering in asking for cartoons! However, a day off always begins with a family breakfast in our pj’s.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

I’m a black belt in Karate!

What is at the top of your bucket list?

One day I’d love to explore the Italian lakes (and restaurants!) in a vintage Alfa Romeo Spider.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had?

I’ve been lucky in my jobs and haven’t really had any terrible times.

Who or what inspires you?

I don’t know about inspiration but my family drive me to work hard and motivate me everyday.

Tell us about the day you’d love to live again?

Oh that would have to be my wedding day! It was so amazing and it’s our 8 year anniversary this year, I would love to re-live that day, all our nearest and dearest, in an old stable block, free bar and a crackin’ ceilidh band. Perfect.

What’s the best part about your job?

I love helping our clients find the perfect cooker for their kitchen scheme and cooking requirements. I have real passion for interiors and cooking, so getting to share this with our lovely clients is great fun. Also, getting to work with my husband everyday is (believe it or not) pretty great too! Oh and I’m lucky enough to have my two whippets with me everyday in the office.

Complete this sentence; the best things in life are….

Famliy, friends, good food and the great outdoors!
