There are many things that make me smile but none more so than the sight of a load of kids enjoying themselves. Which is why we jumped at the chance to head along to Perth Leisure Pool and Dewars Centre for some swim and skate fun with Live Active Leisure.
Cast your mind back to your own Easter Holidays and depending on how old you are, you will spent many an April afternoon splashing about in the Big Pool on Dunkled Road or hoping for a couple of hours of end ice at the Muirton Pack rink. For the under thirties, you will always have known the joy of squealing down the flumes and the excitment that would come from the siren signalling wild water.
Mucking about at the swimmies, playing with your pals and enjoying the unrivalled feeling of your body skimming effortlessly through water should be a glorious memory that all children grow and keep. I was 16 before Perth Leisure Pool opened but I still remember running up the spiral stairs (walking.. we always, always walked!) and waiting breathlessly for the light to turn green.
My own son enjoyed it, my nieces love it and after two hours spent there last Saturday, I can vouch for every happy child who crosses the threshold of the wee round shower block into the water of PLP.
And skating... What is it about skating that makes us a child grin from ear to ear? For us it was the novelty of the curlers allowing us a wee half meter of that end ice every now and then... Well, that and the thought we might grow into Jane Torvill.
Dewars programme of ice-skating though has grown substantially over the past couple of years and kids across Perthshire can now enjoy several weekends and holiday weeks throughout the year. The wee penguins are fabulous (can also be used for short-assed aunties I'm happy to report) and if you're wee one is keen you can book in for lessons
Live Active Leisure work hard on instilling a love of exercise into kids from a young age and they know a thing or two about keeping kids active AND happy! This Easter they've taken all the high-energy, squeal inspiring fun of the pool and joined it up with the too-cool-for-school novelty and fun of the rink.
We know it can be hard to please everyone so you can choose to go swimming or skating or both. there are some fab joint tickets available and you can grab a bite to eat at either Dewars or Perth Leisure Pool to keep them fuelled up and raring to go. Judging by the fun these happy kids had, we guarantee that you'll have tired but happy kids by the end of the day.
The fantastic Swim and Skate packages available at Live Active Leisure are just the thing to have a fun filled and active day this Easter. Find out more about Live Active Leisure here >>>
