The Wee G & T Festival

The inaugural Provender Brown Wee G & T Festival was a huge success with tickets selling faster than rose gin & pomegranate on a hot summer's day. Over 300 lucky people bagged one of the much sought after spaces and our friends at The Salutation Hotel prepared their bars for a gin lovers stampede!

 

Gin has seen a huge revival in recent years and the decision to celebrate the growing number of Scottish and British artisan distilleries was an easy one. From the warm, fruity flavours of an Edinburgh Gin rhubarb liqueur to the smooth clean and powerful sweetness of Pickerings Navy Strength we are truly spoiled for choice.  

 

Being dedicated to the cause, and keen to ensure you have the best possible time, we headed out with Hannah, our new Small City Gin taster and sampled a good few before deciding on who made the cut! 

 

Along the way we discovered that although we say G & T, there is now a plethora of tasty mixers designed to bring out the very specific flavours of these wonderful new gins and so, as well as being able to sample several gins and meet the producers, the Wee G & T festival encouraged each and every one of you into trying modern new mixers and fancy-schmancy alternatives to ice and slice!

 

Of course, a great idea only works if everyone joins in and we were blown away by the enthusiasm of the gin producers. With over 20 distilleries taking part with 50 different gins available to taste it was a Gin lovers paradise!

 

There were also several Gin masterclasses on throughout the day. What better way to celebrate a gin fuelled event than bringing in the experts to help us learn a little more about this wonderful libation.  From cask-aged specials, cooking with gin to scientific experiments, they had everything you needed to know to leave you feeling like a Gin Aficionado.  

 

We brought along our cake wizard in the form of Graeme Maxwell who did a fantatsic masterclass in making gin infused cheesecake!

We hope all who made it had as much fun as we did! We would like to say a massive well done to Diane and the team at Provender Brown for pulling off this wonderful event and we can't wait to do it all over again next year!
