Always smiling and full of energy, Julie Gibson could be the poster girl for why exercise is good for your soul! A Perth girl through and through, she has worked with Live Active Leisure for all of her adult life - starting as a receptionist at Live Active Rodney before moving onto Head Office as the company's Customer Sales Advisor.
"One of my favourite things about my job is that there are never two days the same! I spend most of my time communicating with staff and members about fitness memberships which is perfect for me, as I loved interacting with customers and I work with a great bunch of people. I also like to get out to all sixteen venues across Perth and Kinross as much as possible. If you see me in any of our gyms or sportshalls, please come and say hey!"
When she's not working for Live Active or relaxing in a gym (yes - really!) Julie can found walking her beloved Golden Retriever, Brodie at The Hermitage. We can confirm he is a truly loved fur baby!
Things she loves are: Dogs, shopping, a sarnie at Delicious, and a gin at The Venue. Sounds like our sort of gal. Just watch out for that competitive edge!
1. What signals the start of your days off?
I usually kick things off with a dog walk. I have a one and a half year old Golden Retriever, Brodie who keeps me very busy. We enjoy walks to the Hermitage, St Andrews Beach, Moncrieff Hill and anywhere else he can release all his energy and meet other dogs!
If I’m off at the same time my boyfriend Kris, we try to make the most of the time and either head North or into Glasgow or Edinburgh.
2. What might people be surprised to know about you?
I am extremely competitive and love to turn everything into a competition! (and win!!) My office workmates now call me 'the smiling assassin' after our “relaxed” badminton game.

3. What is at the top of your bucket list?
Top of my bucket list is definitely Machu Picchu in Peru. Last year I was lucky enough to tick the Great Barrier Reef and Angkor Wat off my bucket list while travelling Australia and South East Asia.
This summer, Kris and I are spending 5 weeks driving from San Francisco to New York making 15 stops along the way. This has always been a dream of mine and I’m so excited to be finally doing it.
4. What is the worst job you’ve ever had?
I have worked for Live Active since I was 16 and I can safely say I have loved (almost!) every minute of it. I’m very fortunate to have never had a job I haven’t enjoyed. It’s a great company to work for and there are loads of different roles so you can move around when you need a new challenge.
5. Who or what inspires you?
I definitely have to award this one to my mum. She is awesome and just gets on with things without any bother. She would never see you stuck and always puts our family first.
6. Tell us about the day you’d love to live again?
When we were in Sydney last year, we climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge which is definitely up there with one of my favourite experiences. Afterwards, we came down and sat in an amazing chocolate café overlooking the Bridge and Sydney Opera House. I wish I could do that every day!
7. What’s the best part about your job?
I love seeing people make a difference to their health and lifestyle, so being able to witness this first hand and play a role in it is an incredible feeling. I think the opportunities Live Active offer are great and I love sharing that with others.
8. Complete this sentence; the best things in life are...
Good food, good company, travelling and of course my dog!
