Aberfeldy and Kenmore by Ian Sinclair

16 April 2019

This week we have got a great gallery of Highland Perthshire from photographer Ian Sinclair of the Pictures of Perth and Beyond Facebook group. Ian has taken some stunning snaps of Aberfeldy, Kenmore and the surrounding area.  Aberfeldy is a scenic little town nestled on the banks of the silvery Tay and is home to the site of a Black Watch memorial.

However, the town is best known for Wade's Bridge.  Designed by architect William Adam, father of the more famous Robert Adam. General Wade considered this bridge to be his greatest accomplishment.  Beyond this, the town also has a literary connection featuring in the title of a lyric of a song written by Robert Burns who was inspired to write it by the Falls of Moness and the birch trees of Aberfeldy during a tour of the Scottish Highlands.

Nearby Aberfeld is Kenmore, a beautiful 16th-century village located where Loch Tay drains into the River Tay.  One of the villages main attractions is the Scottish Crannog Centre, one of the country's top heritage sites where you can discover what life was like over 2500 years ago!
