Workdays and Weekends: Laura Cameron

By 24th July 2016

This week's workdays and weekends comes in the form of the warm and funny Laura Cameron from The Hub @ Crieff Hydro Hotel.  She is the manager of the Hub cafe and works 08.30 - 6pm Monday -Friday.

Laura loves her job almost as much as her love for coffee! She enjoys meeting new people and the fact that no two days are ever the same in the hospitality business. She tells us all about a weekend to wimbledon, the recent successful re-launch of the cafe and her love of steak and wine.

1. What does a typical day at work look like for you?

No 2 days are the same in the hospitality business and that’s what I love about it. Different people from different walks of life all looking for that one thing that keeps us going…..coffee!!

Laura Cameron - Making Coffee2. What signals the start of your weekend / days off?

Saying goodbye to Rodger and kicking off my Converse…

3. What makes for a perfect night in?

A delicious cut of sirloin and a good Malbec.

4. What makes for a memorable day or night out?

Good company is top of the list but many things make a great day/night. Generally though day trips or activities with lots of hilarity thrown in.

5. Tell us about the weekend you’d love to live again?

There are too many to mention but for my 30th my sister treated me to a weekend in London with gin tours, Les Miserables and centre court seats at Wimbledon – that’s the stuff dreams are made off – completely spoilt.

6. And now your best ever day at work?

There have been a few so it’s hard to give just one. When the hub was re-launched we put together a showcase afternoon. Team members and guests alike were invited to come and sample our unique drinks, delicious coffee and fast and fabulous food. It was a great success and had everyone talking about this exciting new journey.

7. Any workday or weekend rituals?

In hospitality weekend off are far and few between but when one comes around I like to do what I consider ‘normal weekend stuff’. Saturday morning breakfast out, a bit of shopping with a cocktail or 2 thrown in and out for dinner Saturday night, Sundays are for day trips or lazy lunches.

8. What’s in the perfect day off breakfast?

Poached eggs, seeded bread and mushrooms.

9. Any words of wisdom for us?

'If you’ve lost your faith in love and music, the end won’t be long.'
