Streets of Perth

This week we have an amazing gallery featuring the mean streets of Small City, Big Personality's hometown of Perth.  The idea came about when my colleague Gary was writing a couple of articles on Perth shopping streets featuring George Street and St. John Street.  This lightbulb moment required quick organisation where would I find amazing photographs of Perth streets at short notice?  Our friend Marysia Macfarlane who runs the Facebook group Pictures of Perth and Beyond helped us out with two spectacular street scenes for Gary's article and this got me wondering, how many more amazing street pictures has she got?

After a quick discussion on Facebook messenger, it became clear that Marysia had an impressive stash of pics of Perth streets.  What's more, it turns out we live in an incredibly photogenic town!  Who knew.  So, consequently, today's gallery features some incredible pictures taken out and about in our Fair City.  In alphabetical order, we have Baxters Vennel, Cow Vennel, Charlotte Place, George Street, St. John Street and many more.  It also features historic buildings like The Fair Maids House on North Port which is the oldest secular building in town.

There's plenty for both Perth and non-Perth residents to enjoy and if you're anything like me you will actually learn something.  For example, that Street that runs alongside the North Inch before you cross the bridge is called Charlotte Street and the Grill is in Fleshers Vennel.  Every day is a school day!

Marysia Macfarlane works as a Community Support Worker at Care Services.  In her spare time, she runs the hugely popular Pictures of Perth and Beyond website which gives local photographers a place to share their work, receive constructive feedback and get advice on how to take the perfect snap.  She has also just set, with a little help from her daughter Erin Fowler, a Facebook page showcasing her own photography.  You can check it out for yourself here >>>
