Perth's Christmas lights switch on is always a spectacular affair, and as the days draw deeper into winter, the anticipation is palpable.
We all have memories of frosty nights bundled under scarves and winter coats, sipping hot festive drinks with friends. Looking up waiting, and then finally, with the simple flick of a switch the city is lit up from street to street, aplomb with festive cheer.
Indeed, with names such as James Arthur and Steven Mulhern already having been announced, this year's switch on has been set to be an unforgettable affair. And now, another huge name will be joining them - none other than chart-topping pop star, Pixie Lott!
At 6.15pm on Saturday the 17th of November 2018, the lights will be switched on by the Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis Melloy, who will be joined on stage by Pixie Lott, James Arthur and Stephen Mulhern.
Provost Melloy will press the big red button to trigger the festive lights, followed by an impressive fireworks display over the beautiful River Tay.
Prior to the switch-on, there will be a parade from 5:30pm leaving from Thimblerow, making its way to the Tay Street main stage. The Perth party on Saturday will rock to the soundtrack of The Ex Men All Stars Band - featuring some of the industry's busiest session musicians playing the best of varied careers which have included The Animals, Herman's Hermits, Clearwater, Creedence Revivial and Eric Haycock's The Hollies.
We can't wait - with the Perth Festive Feast carrying on the fun on Sunday, including an edible map of cake, the Great Perthshire Soup Competition finale, and day two of the Perth Chocolate and Gin Festival, there is plenty to do, see, and experience.
