Perth from Above

With our Small City galleries, we like to look at the familiar from a different angle.  This week, drone operator and photographer Sean McCracken of Fly-By Media, helps us do just that with this stunning set of pictures of Perth taken by his whirring drone.  We've put together some of his best shots taken from the skies high above Perth (at least as high as the Civil Aviation Authority will allow).  It's like taking a helicopter ride from the comfort of your computer, tablet or mobile phone, except without all the expense or having to be repeatedly sick in a paper bag!

Drones have become increasingly popular over the last 2 years and reduction in price has driven an increase in demand among the public. In the past drones have been used in both military and commercial settings, like checking the roofs of property's to visually inspecting oil rigs out in the North Sea.  Now you can add providing amazing birds-eye view pics for Small City galleries to that list!

Sean's drone has been whizzing all over our Fair City, from Kinnoull Tower to the River Tay and Moncrieff Island, from the North Inch to North Muirton and from Oakbank to Letham.  You might even be able to spot your house!  If you can, please let us know in the comments section below.

About the Photographer

Sean McCracken is a drone operator and photographer and also runs Fly By Media Perth. He has been flying drones for a couple of years ago and his passion for them originally started as a hobby. He has recently upgraded his drone to allow him to give people another perspective on their town or city. He is currently using a DJI Phantom 3 shooting at the highest quality possible.

Sean never set out to become a professional photographer but he just love's being able to show people how different things look from the air. Whether it's a picture of the street they walk down every day or perhaps a building or landmark, it always looks so much different from above.  You can check out more of Sean's shots on the Fly By Media Facebook page here >>>
