Philip Edwards Exhibition

Exhibition of local artist Philip Edwards work.

This fantastic exhibition will feature over 40 new works by local artist Philip Edwards. Through Philip's extraordinary technique, using, charcoal, conte and pastel, we are taken on a journey through some of Scotland's most dramatic landscapes.

Philip was born in Perth in 1980. His current full time job is as Financial Controller for a charity here in Perth.  Philip has a MA (Hons) Fine Art With Distinction in The History of Art, from Edinburgh University and College of Art and also studied at Florence Academy of Art, where he was sent for two separate overseas study periods.

Philip has exhibited his work in New York, London, and all over Scotland, and over the years have won various awards. His work at present is greatly inspired by climbing and hiking in the Scottish highlands. Himself and his parents Border Collie called Katy have been on the summits of the Munroes almost 300 times! Light is probably the most important thing in his work – its play and its transient nature, especially in the highlands. Philip is fiercely proud of Scotland’s natural beauty, and loves the feeling he gets at the summit of a Munro – that sense of personal connection to, and almost an ownership of, the land itself. As a Christian, he is also invariably struck by the realisation of how small a human being is, when faced with the vastness of God’s creation, with this being especially felt in severe and rapidly changing weather conditions.
