This week we catch up with Simon Calvin who is the owner and wait until you hear it...Chief Llama wrangler at Eco Camp Glenshee. Now if that's not an interesting job, we're not sure what would rival it! We have a right good chin wag and find out all about his days filled with Llamas and glamping!
1. What does a typical day at work look like for you?
Rounding up and feeding the llamas then haltering them up. I uusually meeting guests at 10 am ready for a trek and Load the llamas up and heading for the forest. Aftertrekking for a few hours I head back to base for an afternoon doing my other job, helping run Ecocamp Glenshee.
2. What signals the start of your weekend / days off?
Perhaps an extra hour in bed!
3.What makes for a perfect night in?
Good food, a cold beer, no phone calls, my wife and kids.
4. What makes for a memorable day or night out?
A perfect day out would be some active time in Perthshire-trail running, mountain biking, skiing, cross country skiing, canoeing and hill walking with my wife, Fiona. Maybe not all in a day though!
5. Tell us about the weekend you’d love to live again?
A warm spring day when you can ski on the Saturday at Glenshee and go mountain biking on the Sunday, bathed in spring sunshine.
6. And now your best ever day at work?
Warm sunshine, interesting and happy clients, well behaved llamas and stunning views!
7. Any workday or weekend rituals?
Good quality coffee from a quality machine.
8. What’s in the perfect day off breakfast?
Fiona’s famous American pancakes with organic maple syrup.
9. Any words of wisdom for us?
Be more like a llama.
