Workdays and Weekends: Nick MacIvor

By 10th December 2016

This week's #WorkdaysAndWeekends is Nick MacIvor, the Business Development Manager at South Inch Osteopaths. He loves his job and is passionate about motivating people to take control of their own health matters. When he can tear himself away (the joys of self employment!) he cherishes spending quality time with his wife and kids and vows that everyone should try Ukulele playing- it makes you happy!

1. What does a typical day at work look like for you?

Usually quite long with mainly admin based jobs ranging from organising advertising to graphic design tasks interspersed with running the daily clinics and general reception duties all polished off with cleaning and sorting for the next day.

Add in some accounting and anything else to do with self-employment and employer duties and that's it.

2. What signals the start of your weekend / days off?

Usually a gentle hand on my arm stopping me leaving for work with a whispered "you're not working today" from my wife!

Pizza and telly followed by an early night....to sleep!

4. What makes for a memorable day or night out?

All the most memorable ones were off the cuff - not planned. It has to involve friends that I can be completely myself with, good food and relaxed fun.

5. Tell us about the weekend you’d love to live again?

Any from my childhood. They were usually the same - roaming around woods having fires and chopping logs with my father and brother followed by oodles of home baking made fresh by my mum. That and any other that I've managed to spend with my current wife and kids are always a highlight.

6. And now your best ever day at work?

I love my job, every week has its own rewards. It’s great when patients report success with treatment, and building the business side is very rewarding too – generating something from nothing is quite a buzz.

7. Any workday or weekend rituals?

Workday- that first coffee, and the second, third and fourth! Weekends - an extra snooze on the alarm clock followed by cuddles with the kids.

8. What’s in the perfect day off breakfast?

Coffee, OJ, bacon and eggs - everything else is a bonus.

9. Any words of wisdom for us?

Do away with friends who have a negative impact on your life; always cherish your family and make sure you play the ukulele - it makes you happy.
