Music, Film, Fashion, Action!

By 13th May 2015

I’m heading out with my sister on Friday night and as two women in their early forties we may not be thinking about carrying on the party in The Loft but we sure as heck aren’t ready for the last bus home! So when I caught up with the wonderful Jade Beatson earlier in the week to chat about Transformations LATE at Perth Concert Hall I was invigorated with a new found desire for staying out past 10pm!

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Threshold artspace, this is a FREE event that is open to all. The foyer, artspace and Glassrooms Café will transform into a vibrant club and pop-up exhibition for one night only for Transformations LATE on Friday 15 May.

Transformations LATE will feature live music, DJs, fashion, museum collections and visual art and has been created in a unique collaboration between Horsecross Arts, Perth College UHI and Scottish Fashion Creative Network. This is proper full on #PerthLoveFest people!

MUSIC & FILM

Perth College graduates' new label - Vadana Records - will showcase live bands GoodCopGreatCop, Foreign Fox and Made As Mannequins in the Norie-Miller Studio. The event will also feature the first preview of Ten, Horsecross Arts’ new artists' film and video exhibition plus work from Perth College UHI students.

There will be DJ sets including Miss DLove (The Reading Rooms, Dundee) and the Scottish Fashion Creative Network will present a showcase of leading Scottish labels and creatives in film and catwalk presentations, hair and makeup demos and live photo shoots.

FASHION

Jade Beatson, who is currently working on a digital Fashion and Music project due to be launched very soon, has co-ordinated the fashion element of Transformations LATE. You may know and remember Jade from the ‘Rock The Catwalk’ events at Perth Concert Hall between 2007 and 2010 which she started while she was still at school.  She has worked both front of house and back stage at Horsecross and having moved into Fashion was delighted when they called her up and asked her to get involved.

"I'm really excited to be on board with Horsecross on this excellent new event. We intend to create an intriguing environment with a relaxed vibe where you can chill out, have a drink and mingle with Scotland's creative professionals.

1 STEWART BRYDENFor me, fashion and music sit together very naturally, so with Transformations we're bringing them together in a way that will appeal to everyone. It's a big deal to be able to bring such incredible names from the Scottish fashion world to Perth, and mixing them in with live bands and DJs lets us create something new that will also appeal to a younger audience, giving Perth something fresh to go to on a Friday night."

The Scottish Fashion Creative Network is a not-for-profit established to support and promote individuals and organisations working within the fashion sector in Scotland. This hugely exciting element of the show will bring a behind-the-scenes look into how the catwalk and fashion photography can bring a show to life. Their fashion show will feature Scottish models and designers and a live photo shoot with photographer Stewart Bryden.

HAIR & MAKE-UP

Scottish beauty professionals will be on hand to give you their insider info on upcoming trends and hair and make-up looks straight from the runway and the audience and guests can interact with the hair stylist and make-up artist during and after the demo to ask questions about achieving the look at home.

For me, this is a perfect event bring together all the best elements of pop culture into one space. I hear there is also Street Food, Cocktails and other tasty treats to keep you going into the wee sma' hours.  I'll be FROW with my sis, sipping on something cold and practicing my best Kate Moss cool look!
