The Ronnie Scott's Story

In 1959, saxophonist Ronnie Scott opened the door to a small basement club in London's Soho which has since become one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world.

An ardent jazz fan and part of the burgeoning modern jazz movement, he and fellow saxophonist Pete King had dreamt of opening a club modelled on the swinging jazz clubs and buzzing scene of New York's 52nd Street.

The Ronnie Scott's Story is a visual and musical celebration of that club. Combining world-class live jazz from the Ronnie Scott's All Stars Quintet and vocalist Claire Martin OBE, narration and rare archive video footage, it charts the club's rise from a basement bar where local musicians would jam, through its trials and tribulations and landmark performances from now-legendary jazz icons, to becoming the internationally-acclaimed jazz venue it is today.

Co-hosted by saxman Alex Garnet and pianist James Pearson - Ronnie Scott's Musical Director - The Ronnie Scott's All Stars Quintet and special guest vocalist Claire Martin OBE perform music by many of the great acts that have graced the club's stage.

Multi-award winning UK jazz vocalist Claire Martin has been acclaimed as the outstanding voice of her generation.
