Tayberry Shines a Light on Driftwood

By 27th April 2015

Tayberry Gallery is one of Perth's favourite indies, with its gorgeous array of artisan gifts and Scottish art.  Owned by Louise Forbes and Sarah Spalding the pair are always looking at new ways to encourage all of us to engage with art.

This year they have planned a series of Tayberry Spotlight exhibitions featuring local artists and it kicks off on 27 April with Tayside artist Garry Brown of DriftwoodArts.

Tayberry Driftwood 3Garry uses reclaimed driftwood from the Tay to create intricate and unique clocks, sculptures and miniature houses and each piece is carefully crafted to maximise the fabulous grains, textures and features created by the natural sculpting elements of water, wind, sun and sand on the driftwood.

Tayberry are extremly passionate about supporting local artists and were thrilled when Garry agreed to be featured. His work is a firm favourite of their loyal band of customers and his clocks in particular have sold well for years. This new exhibition will share Garry's Doll House sculptures and some pieces completely new to Tayberry.

Louise and Sarah commented, "We thought it was time to showcase some of his more unusual work alongside some new pieces he has been working on. We can’t wait to see the reaction to his exhibtion – it’s fantastic.”

Garry’s Tayberry Spotlight exhibition will be featured in the Gallery from the 27 April to the 30 May 2015. Its completely free to pop in and have a browse round, and either Louise or Sarah (or both!) will be there to chat about the pieces and answer any questions.
