Stuart Neville For One Night Only

By 9th November 2015

I wanted to entitle this article 'My Pal's A Rock Star' but it felt a bit too teenage girly. So I pulled down the official blurb for Stuart Neville's UK tour and that felt as though it was talking about someone else.  And then I realised, that in actual fact when your pal's a 'rock star', that's how promo guys write about him!

Stuart Neville, Nev, Nevtastic is Perth born and bred and this month he will hit the road with Michael Stark in his first ever UK tour. True to his roots the boy will return home to play a night at The Cellar Bar at The Post Box on Tuesday 10th November. WHOOP WHOOP!

Nev Photo BWNev has been living and gigging in Vienna, Austria for the past decade (you know there's a gorgeous girl in that story, but we'll save it for another time!) and has built a loyal following for both his solo work and with his band, Judo Push - check out their Youtube channel here>>>

His success has been more of a slow burn than an overnight hit and as high-flying as his current tour sounds, he has most certainly earned his gigging stripes.  Take yourself back to 2001 and he was playing Friday nights at Pizza Express, the occassional Saturday in Greyfriars Bar and at various venues (both dubious and salubrious) across Australia, Greece and Vienna.

Along the way he has worked hard, played hard and met far too many characters and friends to remember them all.  This tour is a culmination of his years spent wandering, writing and playing; you're going to hear some amazing original songs with strong influences of the grunge and raw indie of his youth mixed in with the life experiences and personalities of his travels.

It's difficult to give an honest, critical opinion of your friend; I love his music. We have watched him grow from humble roots in his bedroom, playing the pizza express gigs and writing tirelessly into an artist with record deals, actual music videos and UK tour posters.  We have been known to drink gin into the wee sma' hours, listening to Nev whereupon we call him at two in the morning to tell him how great his music is and that we miss him. We know that he deserves every last bit of his current success and so I'm pretty sure he could come on and sing twinkle twinkle and we'd all go nuts!

But to give you an idea of Stuart Neville as an artist I will say this; he has lived and breathed music for as long as I have known him. It is his passion. His songs are rich with life experience and his sound has remained true to who he is and where he comes from.  Opportunities that have required him to change this have been rejected, his integrity far more important to him than fame.  Anyone who loves live music and true singer-songwriter talent will enjoy this gig.

Nev may have kept the solo fire burning but he's also the front-man for indie-electro band 'JUDO PUSH' who released their debut album 'FOR THE NORTH' in 2014 and composed the soundtrack for South African documentary 'HORN'.

This tour though will bring us all a new collection of songs from his duo project with Micheal Stark. Their EP release is due very soon and has prompted this tour which will bring him home to Perth for one night only.

He'll play The Post Box to his local crowd which is his first gig in Perth 'since nineteen oatcake'! I urge you to break the mid-week boredom by coming out on a Tuesday night and hearing some genuine homegrown talent from our pal Nev.
