Damsels In Distress: Flat Spin

By Alan Ayckbourn

Matinee and Evening showings available.

Each play in this trilogy is an entirely separate, stand-alone story, featuring completely different characters. Uniquely, however, all three plays share the same actors - and the same set!

The things actors have to do when they’re out of work . . .

Rosie, for example, takes cleaning jobs. Today, it’s a swish Docklands apartment she’s tackling with the Marigolds, whilst coping with the disappointment of having just missed out on a big TV job. And then the doorbell rings . . .

It’s Sam, a new neighbour of the flat’s absentee occupant, Joanna. Sam is kind, handsome, sympathetic . . . and an investment consultant. So when he mistakes the dispirited Rosie for Joanna and offers to pop back later to cheer her up by cooking dinner for them both, singleton Rosie can’t help thinking her luck’s about to change - over a plate of gnocchi with Sam.

But dinner doesn’t quite go to plan. What with the strange phone calls, Sam leaving abruptly, the pair of heavies turning up at the door, the discovery that the flat’s bugged and the whole drug smuggling thing. Soon, Rosie realises there’s an awful lot she doesn’t know about the woman she’s impersonating. And that no one is quite who they seem. And that she just might be in an awful lot of danger . . .

With echoes of Hitchcock’s North By Northwest, FlatSpin is an hilarious, high-energy story of mistaken identity, magic and misdirection, featuring twist, after twist, after twist. If last Season’s Improbable Fiction caught your fancy, book your seats now!
