Platform Goes Centre Stage

By 23rd March 2017

Attention lovers of the arts – there's a new festival in town and its arriving with a bang! From 25th March to 1st April, Platform – the Festival of Perthshire Creativity - will take place in venues across Perth and Kinross.

From artists to writers, musicians to actors, the festival will showcase over 30 events that celebrate and share the glorious abundance of talent at work in our Small City and beyond.

Galvansied by the shared vision of placing Perthshire firmly on Scotland's creative map the aim in this first year is to encourage both established and up-and-coming artists to 'push their creative boundaries by exploring the contemporary cultural identity of the region.'

If that sounds a little high-brow fear not.  The events are aimed directly at non-artistic folks like me and you and are there to encourage us to get out and meet the talent on our door steps. If you're already a convert and enjoy a bit of culture and teh arts then you probably know the treat that lies in store.

Undoubtabley a product of our bid to become the City of Culture Platform is exactly what we hoped might happen when Perth announced its intention to throw its artistic hat into the ring. By using the amazing choice of venues right here in the area - Perth Museum and Art Gallery, Fair Maid’s House, Innerpeffray Library and the Cateran Trail to name but a few - and homegrown local talent that spans photography, film, drama and more, the festival holds a mirror up to the many reasons why Perth deserves to be a front runner for this prestigious award.
