The line-up on Saturday 19 November, the day the Christmas lights are to be switched on, will include:
• Santa’s arrival at St. John’s Centre at 12 Noon. He will meet children until 5.30pm, when he will take part in a Christmas parade through Perth City Centre; the parade commences from Thimblerow car park 5.30 pm. From Thimblerow it will follow a route from the top of the High Street, turning right into Scott Street, and then turning left into South Street, ending at Watergate;
• Scotland’s Outdoor Festival of Chocolate - The market-style chocolate shopping experience will feature some of the country’s top chocolatiers. Wares on sale will include the finest quality chocolate, as well as cupcakes, candy, personalised chocolate bars, candles and soaps. There will also be hands-on workshops. Chocolate tastings will also be on offer;
• A myriad of street entertainment taking place in the city centre. The Community Stage will be in King Edward Street and Children’s Stage in Horsecross plaza; Christmas Craft Making at the Teddy Station on George Street
• Lots of fun with a selection of pleasure rides situated within the city centre
• Tasty food from a range of quality street vendors;
• An open air ice rink in Horsecross Plaza;
• Ice sculpting in George Street;
• The main stage in Tay Street will feature a host of musical entertainment Including Professor Green, Fleur East, Basil Brush and manay more! The Christmas lights will be turned on with Provost Liz Grant and Santa at 6.15 pm. This will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display across the River Tay.
Perth really is the place to be when it comes to kicking off Yuletide festivities with the city offering a range of fantastic entertainment on Saturday 19th November at one of the biggest Christmas parties in Scotland.
