Oor Wullie - What a Personality!

Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail is arriving in Perth this week for one week only as the mass-participation public art event continues its national tour by visiting Perth Museum & Art Gallery and the St John's Shopping Centre.

A group of mischievous Oor Wullie sculptures will be on display in Perth, including Minecraft Wullie, who will be ready to ‘play’ at the Player gaming exhibition that is currently on at Perth Museum and Art Gallery.

The Oor Wullie trail launched in Dundee at the end of June, and has introduced over 55 sculptures, all individually designed and painted by an array of local and international artists. Some of the 'Wullies' have now gone on tour and Perth is lucky enough to have them for a week during this exclusive tour.

We are super excited to welcome a collection of Oor Wullie's to Perth from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7^th August.  We are especially excited to be home to Minecraft Wullie who we are sure will feel right at home at the interactive Player: Videogame Interaction from Atari to Toys to Life exhibition that's is currently on at the Musuem and Art Gallery. It's fantastic to be able to link a relatively modern form of play like gaming with a character like Oor Wullie, who has entertained people, young and old, for generations.

Four Oor Wullie sculptures will be placed around the Museum and Art Gallery and six more individually and uniquely designed Oor Wullie sculptures will be located in the City’s St John’s Shopping Centre for the duration of this week.

The Oor Wullies have already visited Aberdeen,Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. After leaving Perth, the tour will travel to Inverness and St Andrews before finally arriving back in Dundee for the final few weeks of the trail.

At the end of the trail, on Tuesday 13th September, all the sculptures will be sold at an auction at the Dundee Rep, with all proceeds going to The ARCHIE Foundation’s appeal to raise funds to create a brand new twin operating theatre paediatric surgical suite for the Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells.
