Despite spending much of his life in France, the artist JD Fergusson remained a proud Scot. His belief that Celtic people were the most creative encouraged him to increasingly stress the importance of his Perthshire roots. He viewed Perthshire as his spiritual home and saw himself as a ‘pure Highland Scotsman’.
