If you were one of the 40,000 people roaming the streets at the Perth's fantastic Christmas Light Switch On a couple of week's ago, you may have been lucky enough to pick up one of the amazing handmade desserts or magical Chocolate Wands from Maxwell's Desserts. Or perhaps you've been tempted by their booze-fuelled delights at a Gin Festival or two this summer, or maybe you snapped up a cake at the Perth Show?
We're big fans here in the Small City office, and not just because the man in charge is Rhona's husband! In our house he has been lovingly referred to Graeme The Cake since we first tasted his lemon drizzle and although my nieces think he his our personal family baker, I can confirm he has a full time job running his own extremely busy production kitchen in Bridge of Earn.
Along with his partner in cake-making, Gemma, he produces a mouthwatering range of high end cakes and patisserie to top end clients such as Gleneagles, Fonab, and on occassion The Queen!
Until last year though, he's never ventured out to sell to the public but after the afore-mentioned success at Gin Fairs, Markets and Foodie Events the demand has reached fever pitch! What's a man to do except whip up a batch of divine Christmas puds and trade cakes for favours with Perthshire's busiest online platform - us! (It is highly likely that Anna, Gill and Nicki will be the size of a house by February!).
And so we are delighted to bring you Big G's Christmas Cake Shop, allowing you to order directly from the man himself, ensuring your guests are suitably impressed with your festive pudding offering - please do feel free to pass it off as your own. See the full range and order your Festive Puddings and Desserts here >>>
From crowd pleasers like the Ultimate Chocolate Yule Log (a 2kg beast that'll knock the socks off you!) and his now famous Gin Cheesecake, to show stoppers like traditional French 'entremet' and chocolate magic wands (THE talk of the Christmas Lights Switch On) Maxwell's Desserts have it all... and yes, everything is available as gluten free.
Having dragged him into the 21st centuary with a logo, Facebook page and now online shop, all in the space of a few months, delivery was really a step too far (plus no-one likes a squished yule log!).
He's offering two collection dates from his Bridge of Earn base (9am-8pm Friday 22nd December and 9am-12pm Sat 23rd December), and will be popping up at the special Christmas Perth Farmers Market on 16th Dec from 9am-2pm, where you’ll be able to pick up gin marshmallows, gin fudge and more of those sell-out chocolate magic wands!
