Every Christmas for the past few years I have always picked up some of my favourite gifts at Tayberry Gallery in Princes Street. Now, I’m perfectly aware that this sounds like a shameless advert for this gorgeous little gallery but it is, in fact, a simple truth. No money or gorgeous glassware has exchanged hands!
Ever since I found ‘the perfect bangle’ for my arty pal Lizzi, I have searched out unusual gifts and beautiful things from their wonderful range of artisan designers.
Over the years I have passed on this pearl of shopping wisdom to my friends and family but it seems my boulderweight heavy hints have either been too subtle or too late. If only non-married, non-engaged, non-pregnant women could have their own shopping wish list! **Sigh**
Well, here comes the Princes Street Fairies because this Sunday Louise and Sarah are launching their brand new ‘Christmas Wish List Service’. (Pauses typing to clap wildly!)
Sarah explained, “We’re passionate about providing our customers with excellent customer service and so this year we decided to launch our ‘Christmas Wish List Service’. To help ease the burden of Christmas shopping, we’re offering a service where customers can compile a list of Tayberry Gallery items they would love to receive for Christmas. Their friends and family can then pop in to browse the list and make a purchase.”
Genius!
One of the reasons I love to shop with Louise and Sarah is their commitment to sourcing art and design products from Perthshire, wider Scotland and the UK. The pair are both Duncan of Jordonstone College Art graduates and they have stuck to their creative guns, bringing in a wide range of art including affordable items that everyone can enjoy. In fact, I think my last purchase was a gorgeous little brooch for only £12. You'll also find larger pieces and more exclusive lines.
As well as their fabulous Christmas Wish List, they're offering extended Sunday opening hours for the Christmas season and the whole wonderful experience starts this Sunday 30th November when they open 10am – 4pm. I hear there will also be mulled wine and mince pies to get shoppers in the festive mood!
Louise explained the girl’s thoughts behind their extra services, “We’re very lucky in Perth to have such a fantastic range of independent shops and restaurants, and there is no better time to support them than at Christmas. Independent retailers can offer customers something different not just in terms of exciting products but also in terms of personal customer service and advice to help take the stress of Christmas shopping. By supporting independent retailers such as the Tayberry, customers are also helping to support the UK’s creative industry. This is our way of saying thanks and giving our customers a little something extra!”
