I'm sure all of our followers know that we're dedicated lovers of the Perth Indies. These are the brave and the bold, the passionate and the visionary, the people who have thrown caution to the wind, traded in a regular payslip for following their heart and in the process gifted us with the shops, restaurants and businesses that make our Small City the unique, quirky, showstopper of a city centre that we are.
Independents’ Day may mean stars, stripes and fireworks in the US of A but here in the UK it was launched five years ago as a way to celebrate our local Indie retailers. Like all good things it has now come to an end.. BOOOO!! However, here at Small City we're not really fans of good things coming to an end and so we've decided to run our own reminder about the amazing Indie Retailers in and around Perth City Centre.
From the beautiful Parklands Boutique Hotel with Restaurant overlooking South Inch Park to the ever arty and always fun textiles at Tayberry Gallery, ours is a city centre to be proud of. It is easy to jump on the bandwagon of tough times and no shops but in among the political rhetoric we as customers and shoppers, diners and browsers need to rememeber that there are still many, many fantastic people just waiting to help you find that perfect cushion, cheese, dress, hairdo, bangle or inspiration to dance!
Two years ago we started our own #PerthLoveFest where we asked all of you to get behind your local Indies, giving them a shout out whereever you can. If you've not read our great article on why shopping local can help us all then click over tp now. #PerthLoveFest >>>
Remember, the small things we do can make a big difference so while you're out and about this week why not pop into Provender Brown or Paco's Deli for your lunch? Or have a browse around Marians? While you're at that end of town, a bunch of Flowers from Lorna Davies always goes a long way to cheering up our office!

This week we invited our local Indies to send us a photograph of their shops, goods and selves. Who knew they were such a talented bunch of people?
