All Hallows Eve with the Spirits of Scone Palace!

By 28th October 2016

Last night I headed along to the exclusive press night at Scone Palace for their spooky Spirits of Scone Twilight Illuminations tour and had a fantastic time! It was a spooky extravaganza with spine chilling tales,  plenty frights and spooky sights. Unfortunately, I can't spoil the spooky fun so I will give you a word of warning instead...BEWARE! There's a lot more lingering in the shadows of the grounds than you would expect, keep your wits about you!

Scone Palace is one of Scotland's most important stately homes. It's been the seat of many parliaments and is the true home of the Stone of Destiny. The walls have witnessed the crowning of many Kings of Scotland, including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce. Now, that's a lot of extraordinary history right here on our doorstep.

This long and important historical significance makes it the perfect place to experience a spooky tour through history and this year for the first time ever, Scone Palace has teamed up with the creative wizards behind the award-winning Enchanted Forest to create a spine-tingling sound and light show to celebrate Halloween that they're sure the many Spirits of Scone would be proud of!

The atmospheric tour guides you around the Palace’s garden and graveyard and is perfect spooky night out for the family, so don't miss out on the opportunity to experience the spooktastic All Hallows’ Eve Twilight Illuminations with the walking, talking, Spirits of Scone.

There are still many eerie reminders of Scone’s past around the Grounds. From the Mercat Cross (Market Cross) and the Old Scone graveyard to the 16th century archway which was the grand entrance to the ‘City of Scone’.

This illuminated sound and light show will stimulate your senses and encourage visitors, both young and old, to let their imagination run wild.

The tour, which is approximately 25 minutes long, is an interactive experience with the Spirits of Scone dressed in period costumes guiding visitors as they walk through the grounds and enter the Palace’s ancient graveyard. There are, of course, some other spooky, atmospheric surprises along the way…

3 Scone Palace HalloweenAs it has a few scarier elements to the tour, All Hallows’ Eve with the Spirits of Scone – Twilight Illuminations so it's not suitable for children under 8 years old, but Scone Palace has ensured there's plenty for the younger children to enjoy during Halloween weekend.

A packed Daytime Spooktacular calendar of events are planned on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October including ghoulish puppet shows, face-painting and a competitive fancy dress competition. Families with older children can stay on and enjoy one of the scarier tours which will run from 5.00pm – 8.00pm.

A special Halloween menu will available in the Palace Coffee Shop from 4.00pm – 8.00pm to warm people up during the illuminated show with an array of devilish dishes to choose from, including pumpkin soup, ghoulish goulash and devil’s chocolate cake. We had the ghoulish goulash and it was superb!
