Glendoick : The Perthshire Soup Dragons!

By 27th November 2014

Enter any Scottish pub, any night of the week and you will find grown men standing with pints and arguing about two things. Football. And whose mum makes the best soup. Soup is part of who we are in Scotland, it’s as essential as snow tyres and woolly vests.  Fuel, substance, heart-warming food of the gods. You can’t beat it.

And to prove this point Glendoick Garden Centre and Food Hall have not one, not two but three great soup stories, starting with a warm-you-from-the-inside-out tale of how we can slurp down and help the homeless.

Stop for Soup at Glendoick

This is a great initiative from the Bethany Christian Trust. Their Stop for Soup Appeal week is running right now - from the 23rd- 30thNovember - and Glendoick's team are right behind them. Glendoick sell a staggering 700 bowls of soup each week and right now they have pledged to donate 50p from each bowl sold to Stop for Soup.

At this time of year we’re all more aware of the warmth of our homes and the refuge they bring.  Bethany Christian Trust provides vital services to over 6000 homeless and vulnerable people across Scotland and their services range from emergency housing support to community development projects.  For more information click over to their website.

Stop for Soup was created so that you can do something amazingly simple to help this cause. Sit down, break bread and enjoy a bowl of soup, knowing you’ve helped  transform the lives of people in need.

Visit Glendoick Garden Centre and Food Hall up to and including Sunday 30th November and you’ll be part of this wonderful appeal.

Buy A Bowl, Get A Bowl Free. YUM!

Throughout December when you but a bowl of Glendoick’s soup you’ll get a wee voucher to go back in January and have another one for free. No tricks, no fancy schmancy form to fill in, no need to hand over your first born to activate the voucher. Just a gorgeous gift from them to you. A proper #PerthLoveFest!

They Are Joining In With Us!

I was busy chatting to Heather about all of this wonderful soup fuelled kindness when we struck upon a plan!  As Gill and I are setting up stall at the St Andrew’s Day Festival on Sunday 30th November, Heather has offered to furnish us with hot soup tasters for you all lovely people. So that’s #SmallCityRecipes, Glendoick Soup and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers! It’s gonna be ACE!

But possibly not as good as my mums ;-)
