We know everyone’s favourite subject is car parking , so we thought we’d share the good news that PKC’s ‘Free After 2pm’ scheme has returned- hurrah! What better way to celebrate than to pull together our favourite Indies onto the roof of Canal Street Car Park (and to send Linda Hill of Murrays Pies to blag a go in a brand new BMW from Grassicks Garage!)?
This means that on Thursdays and Friday’s until 27th January you can now park completely FREE after 2pm in the following Perth car parks;
Mill Street | Milne Street | Library East and West | Carpenter Court | Leonard Street | Mill Wynd |West Mill Street | Canal Street | Speygate | Charles Street | Scott Street | Back Wynd | Norrie Miller Riverside Turning-Head | Canal street Multi-storey (Shopmobility operates from this car park) | Thimblerow | South Inch | Victoria Street

The scheme also operates in Council car parks in Blairgowrie, Crieff and Dunkeld) which makes it super duper easy to take in the array of events taking place during the Winter Festival. It makes perfect sense- now you don’t need to factor in parking charges you’re more likely to head into town to do your shopping, and even more likely to hang around for a coffee somewhere like Blend rather than leg it back to the car to beat the traffic warden!
It’s worth noting that the scheme only applied to Council owned car parks, not those owned by private companies (cue pantomime boo-hiss for the Scrooge like antics of Smart Parking!). As well as this you can also park free of charge in on-street bays on Sundays and on 25th/26th Dec, and 1st/2nd Jan.
What’s that you say? Even more good news about parking?
You may have heard whispers that the Council owned multi-storey car park on Canal Street is now once again open to the public, completely revamped and re-ramped (see what we did there?!).
The car park will initially be free to all users whilst the final parts of refurbishment are completed in December, but the evidence of a healthy financial investment (keep yer heid, it’s funded by receipts from charging for parking) can already be seen, including;
So, great news all round for retailers, us Christmas shoppers and anyone who wants to come into town for a bit of festive fun! And while you're here visit our retailers from the rooftop, pick up an award winning pie at Murrays, head for lunch at 63 Tay Street or pick up a sparkly necklace at Byers & Co.
