Frank Lloyd

Programme will include pieces by L.V. Beethoven, R.Strauss, F.Strauss, R.Schumann, Rheinberger and J.S.Bach.

rank Lloyd played French Horn in the Royal Marines Band Service and in 1975 left the services to embark on a course at the Royal Academy of Music as a pupil of Ifor James. Within three months, however, he was offered the position of Principal Horn with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and went on to play with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, the Nash Ensemble and the English Chamber Orchestra as Principal Horn.

For several years he served as Professor of Horn at both the Guildhall School of Music and Trinity School of Music in London and in 1998 was appointed Professor of Horn at the Essen Folkwang-Hochschule where he succeeded the renowned Hermann Baumann. His achievements have been recognised by being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music.
Maxim Shamo was born in the North Caucasus in a family with a longstanding professional musical tradition. He started studying piano at a very early age at the Special Music College of the National Academy of Music in Kiev, Ukraine. He has studied around the world, with Professor Ludger Maxsein at the Folkwang University of the Arts (Essen, Germany), Professor Staffan Scheja (Stockholm, Sweden) and Professor Willem Brons (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
