There’s nothing to do for kids in Perthshire….said no one who works at Small City ever!
There’s LOADS, and this week I want to tell you about just a handful of what’s coming up. A veritable smorgasbord of children’s entertainment from silent discos, to FREE light shows, dance performances, live theatre and dinosaurs. Set a date, book some tickets, tell your pals, and let us know how much fun you have!
This is a very special performance for 2-4 year olds, at the brand new Perth Theatre. It’s been created by Andy Manley, who’s ready to welcome you into the beautifully strange world of White. Birdsong, a tiny disco ball and a sprinkle of magic accompany the story of two friends looking after the birds and their eggs. Little ones will be on the edge of their seats just watching, waiting and then…colour appears! The 35 minute show is perfect as an introduction to visual theatre for young kids. We’ve already booked our tickets so we’ll see you there! There’s also a limited number of FREE tickets available for babies in arms up to 12 months.
Last year thousands of people headed down to explore the riverside walk, and it’s back this year for even longer. Once again Norrie-Miller Walk will come to life as darkness settles, and be lit up each evening including fantastic themed nights for Perth's cleebrations of Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. A magical wonderland right in the heart of the city centre, full of food, drinks and surprises along the way. This is a free event so no need to book – just head down and enjoy! Curious Seed and Tramway have come together to produce this show all about exploring the heady and challenging time of transition that we all must go through…the teenage years! It’s captivating dance theatre in three parts: live performance and music, interactive installation and silent disco.
The voices of teenagers, parents and grandparents in Scotland, Denmark, Belgium, India and Australia are represented, making it a show that everyone will enjoy. Bring your family, bring your friends, but most of all, bring your (inner) teenager!
What kid doesn’t love a dinosaur eh? This touring hit stage show starring dinosaur aficionado Dr Ben Garrod is making it’s way to the Strathearn Campus in Crieff. Ben takes you through the deadliest predators that ever roamed our planet on an exciting adventure. You better brush up on your Dino knowledge though as unwitting parents will be pitted against their all-knowing kids to see who comes out victorious (to be fair, my vote is with the kids!). It’s a fun, interactive, educational and entertaining show which promises that by the end you’ll know your Allosaurus from a Spinosaurus! Recommended for ages 5+
This charming show will be taking place at Birnam Arts, and is aimed at audiences aged 3-5 years old. It comes from Indepen-dance, Scotland's inclusive professional dance company. The performance is colourful, full of humour and will capture the imagination of young kids (and adults!). It tells the tale of bobble hats, scarves, tents that have a life of their own and of course, plenty of fun in wellies!
