Discovering Ancient Egypt with Dr Dan Potter

Culture Perth and Kinross are delighted to welcome Dr Dan Potter, Assistant Curator at National Museums Scotland, to Perth Museum & Art Gallery for a talk on the new Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition.

Discovering Ancient Egypt is a touring exhibition that brings together fascinating objects and hidden stories from the collections of National Museums Scotland and Perth Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition uncovers how ancient Egypt captivated Scotland over the past 200 years, as it still does today.

Dan completed his PhD in Egyptology at the University of Liverpool, specialising in ancient Egyptian language. He joined National Museums Scotland in 2016 to help develop the new gallery ‘Ancient Egypt Rediscovered’, which opened in 2019. Dan has published research concerning linguistics, the history of Egyptology and also has interests in archaeological facsimiles and the representation of ancient Egypt in comics.

Discovering Ancient Egypt is a National Museums Scotland touring exhibition supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
