I know that this seems like a strange title - why woud Perth's leading indie lingerie shop be asking for you to take your old bras to them? Surely they want you to walk in empty-handed and leave with some beautiful, new, well-fitted undies!
Fear not! Jennifer and co haven't lost their Rigby and Peller marbles; they have set up a Bra Bank in their South Street shop and are helping in the fight against Breast Cancer.
Here's how sorting out your old undies and donating to the Bra Bank can help:
Tick One. This is the no brainer. Landfill - Bad. Reducing textiles in landfill - Good.
But how does Tick Two come about? Well, Against Breast Cancer has teamed up with BCR Global Textiles who will donate £1,000 to Against Breast Cancer research for every tonne of bras collected. In real money, that's only 9,000 bras. I reckon if your top drawer looks anything like mine we could do this in Perthshire alone!
Every kilo equals £1 and every £1 raised is vital in enabling Against Breast Cancer to continue their work in finding a vaccine against breast cancer as well as looking at ways to increase the survival of women and men who have the disease.
BCR will then help fulfill tick three by helping small businesses in Africa through their textile project. Its easy - they prevent valuable bras going to landfill by giving them a new lease of life in developing countries across Africa where bras remain too expensive to produce.
