Brought up in Easterhouse, Glasgow, Bonnie McCallum has always been interested in singing and was lucky enough to grow up in an environment which allowed her access to all genres of music from jazz and swing through gospel, country, blues and soul to rock and punk. She has been described as sounding like a "seasoned pro straight from the Mississippi Delta".
Bonnie started singing at a very early age and now has over 25 years performing experience. Her first major shot at music was as a backing singer with Glasgow band, Bigmouth, followed by a spell as lead singer in a band called Kicking Stone.
Bonnie has travelled the length of the UK playing clubs and festivals with bands such as Angelshare, Runik, Parcel o' Rogues and Rona. On her travels she supported the likes of Rory Maleod at Fylde Folk Festival and Tanglefoot at Clitheroe Folk Festival. She has also performed at Salmesbury, Coppull and Darlington Folk Festivals.
With Rona, Bonnie supported Diamh at Farr Hall, Highlands where the special guest on fiddle was Sofie Jonsson from Sweden. The band has also played at the Northern Roots Festival, Portsoy Folk Festival, Lomond Folk Festival, the Danny Kyle Open Stage at Celtic Connections 2010 as well as an appearance at the Belladrum Festival in 2011.
When not on the road or in the studio with bands, Bonnie also has a career as a very hard-working solo entertainer doing the circuit of hotels, clubs, weddings and corporate functions.
Bonnie McCallum's wealth of experience combined with her transparently genuine love for what she does makes for a stupendous performance every time she steps on stage. Not to be missed!
