Whether you think of it as Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes this great British annual celebration traditionally held on 5th November is responsible for many a childhood memory. It seems like only yesterday I was climbing up the hill behind the old library where I grew up in Dunoon, jostling for a good position where I could wait with anticipation for the firework display to start.
Like many families over the years my dad had attempted to recreate the magic in our own back garden to varying degrees of success (the climbing frame never quite looked the same after the rather spectacular misfire of a large Roman Candle in 1991). Alas, sometimes things are best left to the professionals! These days public Firework displays are creative displays of pyrotechnic genius, planned and thought out months in advance. We plan on taking Freya along to enjoy at least one of these great nights happening in Perthshire this year, and were pleased to see not all fall on the 5th- which means you can get along to more than one!
With thanks to Dave Ritchie Photography for these beautiful images.
