Arabesque opened it’s doors 30 years ago in a style decade that offered the bride a singularly unexciting court shoe in a low, medium or high heel with a white leather (more often pvc) upper. Bridal footwear didn’t really exist at that time but a chance conversation with Gamba of London who, were ballet shoemakers provided owner Sharon with her first collection based on ivory satin ballroom shoes.
Around the same time, Cordwainers Footwear College in London was producing some fantastic shoe designers who were embarking on creating their own shoes for the bridal market and eager to find something a little more bespoke for their customers, Arabesque approached Diane Hassall who designed and made all her shoes by hand. It was an exciting time, and so began their ardent support for the independent shoe designer.
Larger scale production of bridal shoes by brands like Rainbow Club and Paradox London provided the bride with an ever-growing choice of styles and were now more widely available. Suddenly the bridal shoe was king!

Arabesque endeavors to provide their customers with a collection of shoes that are not only beautiful to look at in terms of design and craftsmanship, but feel amazing to wear. Owner Sharon says “It is a joy to present the bridal shoe ‘indies’ du jour like Harriet Wilde with her fabulous embellishments and Florence, who give us shoes for brides that like to bend the rules a little” They believe in wearing shoes that make your heart skip a beat!
They continue to work hard to present gorgeous bridal shoes & accessories, championing both leading British footwear manufacturers and designer shoemakers, genuinely caring about their customers and most importantly remaining relevant in the bridal industry.
This season you will see blush, nudes and metallics with statement heels featuring strongly from their current shoe labels – Harriet Wilde, Florence, Charlotte Mills, Di Hassall, Rainbow Club, Rachel Simpson, Pink and Freya Rose. And a beautiful range of veils handmade in Wales by Joyce Jackson for Rainbow Club in Italian tulle for a dreamy finishing touch.
They also offer a professional in house shoe dyeing service, where they will custom blend a dye to match your outfit, hat or favourite nail polish, perfect for bridesmaids, mothers & guests. This service is available on satin shoes & bags bought in store and elsewhere providing they are dyeable..
