Doug Scott CBE brings tales of extreme mountaineering to Birnam Arts with his lecture celebrating the 40th anniversary of his legendary crawl down Pakistan's infamous "Ogre" after a disastrous abseil left him on hanging from a rope with both legs broken.

Doug Scott and Chris Bonnington had just scaled the "Ogre" Mountain recognised as one of the most challenging in the world to climb, in fact it would take another 24 yearly attempts before it was conquered again.  Doug's talk tells of their gruelling descent over many days in extreme weather conditions after which the duo were finally rescued.

This rescue was due in large part to the brave support of fellow climbers Clive Rowland and Mo Anthoine along with selfless locals.  In turn this inspired Doug to start up projects to help the people of the area acheive a better standar of living.

With all proceeds going to Community Action Nepal, Doug will have Nepalese goods, posters, signed framed prints and his award winning autobiography "Up and About" available to buy after the talk.
