What is your job, when did you start, how did you come to be here?
My job title is Digital Marketing Executive; I started at Small City Big Personality 6 months ago and have loved it since day one!
As a Digital Exec my job role includes working on new creative content for Small City Big Personality and Red String PR clients. This can be anything from creating video content to covering live events. My daily tasks include maximising page views on Small City using google analytics and SEO, creating content for our social media channels and sending out E-Newsletters.
What's the best thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
I LOVED working on WOW Perth 2018, Scotland’s only Women of the World Festival! It was the first Red String PR client project that I have worked on from start to finish. It was so exciting working on a PR strategy prior to the event taking place and watching it unfold and the press coverage roll in. It was an amazing experience working with such inspiring and motivational women and hearing their stories throughout the festival.
I can’t think of another job where I have ended up drinking gin in a field feeding Llamas with two toddlers!
What is the best part of your job?
I love that two days are never the same in the Small City Office! One day I can be working on a big PR project and the next I can be out creating videos with Indie retailers.
It’s fast paced and involves juggling and prioritising lots of tasks and projects at once and I thrive working in that kind of atmosphere. I also love all of the events we get to cover! It’s great getting to take my 18 month old son River on lots of work projects with me. I can’t think of another job where I have ended up drinking gin in a field feeding Llamas with two toddlers!
What signals the start of your days off?
That FRIDAY FEELING! I’m always in a great mood on a Friday and look forward to finishing off work and heading home to spend the weekend with my husband and baby boy. I’m always a busy bee so normally our weekends are packed with events or socialising with friends and catching up with family. Normally a typical weekend includes a visit to my design studio, some Saturday shopping (I am a serial shopaholic) and some delicious food and wine.
What might people be surprised to know about you?
I have my own design business Isolated Heroes. We make luxury sequins and sassy faux furs and design collections and for lots of super cool clients including Paloma faith, Baddie Winkle, Tess Holliday and Miley Cyrus!!
What's at the top of your bucket list?
I want to go to New York so badly! My husband and I went to LA, San Francisco and Vegas on a big road trip for our Honeymoon and I LOVED America! Now I want to save up to go on the Ultimate New York blow out lots of shopping and cocktails!
Who or what inspires you?
I have so many amazing friends and inspirational females in my life! I love nothing more than women who have created businesses and started with nothing and now run successful companies whilst juggling work and family life.
I also find it really inspiring when women are honest about their successes and aren’t afraid to talk about the pitfalls and moments that might be percieved as 'failures' along their journey.
What day would you love to live again?
I would love to live my Honeymoon again – three weeks baby free travelling around with my husband living our American Dream.
