FAQs

Who is this gathering aimed at?

People of working age who have had a stroke and others close to them who are affected. It is not intended for healthcare professionals in this field. Please help us to promote this event by telling other people about it.

What is the aim of the event?

  • To raise awareness of young stroke in Scotland

  • To share frustrations of living with the effects of stroke but to focus on positive solutions

  • To look at the most effective ways for young people to be supported following stroke

What is the programme for the day?

There will be two key speakers but mainly there will be discussion groups focussed on the following topics:

  1. Journey back to work

  2. Dealing with low mood

  3. Managing money issues and worries

  4. Effect on children and family life

  5. Adapting to new circumstances: keeping socially connected and active

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Being near the centre of town there are plenty of options. The venue is a half mile walk or a short taxi ride from Perth’s bus and rail stations. There are 300 spaces in the car park which is free to blue badge holders and £1 for the day to others. All car park tickets need to be taken to reception to claim this reduced rate

Will lunch be provided at the event?

Yes and you will be prompted to tell us about any special dietary requirements when you book your ticket

Will it cost me anything to attend?

No the event is free to you so you just need to pay your own travel expenses. The two charities running the event will be paying £50 for each place though so please do let us know if you book but then cannot attend. Your place can then be given to somebody else

Can I bring somebody with me to support me on the day?

Yes if you need somebody to stay with you and help you on the day that is fine, they will need to register too as there is a limit to numbers and we will need to know their dietary requirements.

Do I need to bring my printed ticket to the event?

There is no need to print out the ticket, we will have a record of your registration

Who can I contact if I have any questions or need to cancel my place?

Please phone Deborah Slater on 07388 378604 or email deborah.slater@chss.org.uk
