Strap yourself in because the runaway success of 2017, Tiny Trains is back this year starting from the first of April! It has been going since 2001 and runs on the Wester Pickston Railway just 3 miles from Methven.
There’s a ground level track with trains, an outdoor Garden Railway and extensive woodland paths where they run steam-powered road models.
Western Pickston Railway runs four Open Days a year - the next dates are Sunday 1st April, Sunday 27th May, Sunday 29th July and Sunday 26th August.
You can chat with the members, take a walk in the woods, have a cuppa or bring a picnic AND there are even baby change facilities! As a registered charity WPR spends all of their proceeds from open days on improving the facilities and track.
This year the same tickets can be us for the Traction Engine rides. Still Free Parking and no Entry Fee. There will be new Traction Engine carts with padded seats, and a second rail route around Wester Pickston.
You can read more about the amazing Tiny Trains experience here in our Small City Review.
There is a High Risk of Fire at Wester Pickston this coming weekend unless we have a large sustained rainfall before the 29th.
It is very probable that we will not be running Steam Locos but we will run our electric locos, many of which have been used and been popular on previous Public Running Days. We also hope to run a couple of diesel/petrol locos.
