Twice a year, The Peacock and the Tortoise offers an extensive programme of textile classes. There are the ever-popular multi-session patchwork groups for different levels, from total novices to experienced quilters; an appliqué club, a memory quilt class, handbag-making classes, learn how to use a sewing machine class and (in the autumn) several Christmas classes.
Find the full programme on our website or pop in for a paper copy of our newsletter.
There are some spaces for the ‘Start Quilting and Patchwork’, day-time and evening classes. This class takes a longer look at the art of patchwork and quilting through the construction of patchwork blocks using classic techniques. This course will include how to assemble the blocks into a throw, lap quilt, table runner or a double bed sized quilt. Quilting groups meet every fortnight for two hours. Depending on how much time you can spend on sewing, you can have a quilt top finished by the end of the session.
