Live Active & Run Free

We all know how important it is to keep our kids active, particularly with the modern day challenge of screen time to compete with!  When we think of sports and fitness for children we often go for the obvious ones - football, netball, swimming. All brilliant, all a great way to keep little legs moving!

But have you ever considered just going out for a run with your kids? Pulling on your trainers and hitting the tarmac, park path or countryside lanes?

Well, that's exactly what organisers of the Perth 10K Festival are encouraging you do! They have announced Live Active Leisure (LAL) as the titular sponsor of their 1.5K and 3K children’s fun runs and to make it even better, they're offering 50 free spaces to children in both races.
Exercise brings significant benefits to children’s physical and mental wellbeing.
The popular Perth 10K Festival, scheduled to take place this year on Sunday 1st September, is now in its 35th year and has been offering children’s races for the past five years.

This year, Live Active Leisure’s sponsorship has allowed race organisers to offer 50 free places in the 1.5km and 3km Fun Runs.

Kelly Parker, Marketing Manager & Communications Manager for LAL, Perth's independent sports and leisure trust commented,

“Encouraging kids to take part in - and to enjoy - organised activities is one of our key objectives at Live Active Leisure. Studies show time and again, that exercise brings significant benefits to children’s physical and mental wellbeing.

By partnering with the Perth 10K Festival to offer free spaces, our hope is that children from across all Perth and Kinross communities now have the opportunity to take part.  It looks set to be great fun and we can't wait to hand out lots of medals at the end!”

The 1.5K fun run is for children aged 4 to 10 years of age, with the 3K open to those aged 11 – 15. Children over 16 years should enter into the main 10K race.

Steve Bonthrone, 10K Festival organiser, commented, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Live Active Leisure to encourage children to find a love of running.

The kids fun runs are becoming more and more popular, and so with these free spaces, our advice is to be quick off the starting blocks and complete your entry now!”
