Perth Museum and Art Gallery are digging deep into uncovering some old Perthshire Myths and Legends with their newest exhibition at Perth Museum & Art Gallery to uncover the truth behind the legends...

Did you know that a witch named Kate McNiven was burned to death by a mob in Crieff? Had you heard that there is a cave somewhere on Kinnoull Hill called the Dragon’s Hole? And what about the one about Lawer’s village, an abandoned hamlet on Loch Tay? We heard that a lady seer once predicted the future there!

Perth and Kinross has a rich tradition in stories, tales and folklore, and Perth Museum and Art Gallery will be home to a new and exciting exhibition this Spring, Only in Whispers – The Myths and Legends of Perthshire. This innovative exhibition is based on stories, folklore, and local urban myths. It uses theatrical methods to bring these stories to life, creating an unforgettable interactive experience unlike anything seen before at Perth Museum and Art Gallery!

The exhibition, in collaboration with Stage Designer, Becky Minto and Pitlochry Festival Theatre, will be looking at the strange stories passed down through the generations; the myths, the legends and how well we really know them.

They’ve been overwhelmed with the number of entries they’ve received for the call out for local peoples' myths and legends and they will be reviewing them very soon!

Timed-entry tickets are available now. Admission to this immersive experience cost £5 for adults, £3.50 for concessions and £15 for a group entry (2+2).

This experience is aimed at visitors aged 8 and above, as some content may be unsuitable for our younger guests.
