Capsule Packing Must Haves

By 27th May 2015

With holiday season fast approaching, and lots of lucky people jetting off on family holidays or heading away for a City Break with your nearest and dearest, everyone wants to look their best!

Travelling light is always a tricky for me (eight pairs of shoes does not constitute light travel!) and a lack of space can spell trouble! How can you possibly fit eight pairs of shoes and ten carefully planned outfits into a space that's so restricted?

This month, the capsule suitcase is our chosen topic- what to pack without compromising on skin, hair care or style. This is my top must-haves for a weekend in the sun or the city and it'll kit you out from top to toe!

Lets start at the top with hair! I love Davines, and on my last visit to Rae Peacock Hair I picked up the wonderful Davines Oi range which suits all hair types. The main ingredient is Roucou oil which smoothes, shines and protects against heat and free radicals. When I bought two products I picked up this cute pochette free with a travel size shampoo and conditioner- perfect for getting through security at the airport and light enough not to weigh me down!

EL DavinesThey also have the Oi oil in travel size and the Oi milk (only £6.75 for that size) which I love. Firstly, the Oil is their answer to Moroccan oil but better. The milk is a spray on magic potion. It heat-protects and has brilliant UV protection which stops your colour fading. A massive draw for me was the fact the whole range speeds up drying time by 50%! Apparently the Roucou Oil acts like a wax jacket and water says on the surface of your hair (Rae explained to me!). Apart from making my hair feel amazing, the smell is to DIE for! Try it. Davines hair range is available at Rae Peacock Hair.

I'm sure I'm not alone with this next one. With the crazy weathe we've been having my skin is so tired and dull and in need of that extra boost. I like to wear less makeup in the sun so I want to make sure my skin looks bright and feels good. I have fallen in LOVE with the Vitage range from Bliss Salon.

Vitamin C Radiance Serum is an instant fix for dull tired skins. It combines encapsulated Vitamin C to energise the complexion, plus Argantensyl to firm and tighten the skin. Great on décolleté, necks or around eyes for an instant lift.

EL VitageVITAGE Colour Minerals produces instant light reflection and radiance to instantly brighten skin and their Natural Daily Perfector helps even out skin tone so its ideal as a primer under the minerals or on its own to give skin a lovely dewy glow.

Finally their Natural Skin Glow creates a youthful skin when used all over the face or enhances the face and body when used as a highlighter. All products are under 50ml so will fit snug in you clear bag while going through customs! The Vitage product range is available at Bliss Salon in North Methven Street.

Fashion Style 5When you're on holiday and it comes to getting ready at night, I have to admit I can be pretty lazy. (This is a direct result of me being a lush that doesn't like to miss out on valuable in the sun drinking time!) So, I always strive to find something casual enough to wear to the beach, but not so laid back you can't take it straight into a bar or restaurant.

In Eva Lucia we have a lush range of boho maxi dresses- all with drawstring ties at neck and bust so you can adjust it to your body shape. They are loose and flowing making them perfect for comfort in the summer, without compromising on style. My colour choice would be a neutral shade - white is everywhere this summer and shows off the tan beautifully.

EL KimonoTo bring a look of glam to your swimsuit or maxi dress, I adore our Japanese Kimono, with over sized sleeves in a beautiful sheer mint green. It has a bird print in Japanese style and comes with a detachable belt, so you can wear it closed or let it hang loose.

Fashion Style 6Keeping with the boho theme, I love, love, love these Brazilan made leather sandals with cork wedge - this is a major hint towards my favourite decade for style, the 70’s. With  padded sock and lightweight wedge these sandals are perfect for all day on the foot. The contrast snakeskin ankle straps add a pop of colour to your outfit.

EL Printed bagOur range of Talented Canvas bags will be my alternative to a bulky beach bag - Sand and chlorine are harsh on our clothes and accessories, so I never want to spend an excessive amount on beach accessories and at £12 this little beaut fits the bill perfectly.

Wherever you are headed, have fun, look good and feel great!
